Joint 3Cs/Stewards workshop focused on collegial decision-making

Meeting on Zoom (check your email for link)

The CFA invites you to a workshop on the collegial decision-making model. This is the process all departments use for decisions about their work (the "who does what, when, where, and how" of our work), set out in articles 2.5 to 2.8 of our collective agreement.

We held such a workshop last fall with coordinators and stewards, and had been planning to offer it again for all faculty. Given the University’s recent proposal to delete the model and make deans the decision-makers about our work, this workshop is all the more important and timely.

Diana Twiss, who has many years of experience in co-ordination, and senior steward Michael Begg will lead the session, but we want this to be a collaborative workshop, in which you bring your experiences, questions, and ideas to the discussion of how "article 2.8 decision-making" works and how it can be protected and strengthened.

We want this to be a collaborative learning experience. We would especially welcome examples of particular issues (struggles or successes) you have had with departmental decisions, and we would like to hear how your departments communicate their decisions to the administration.

We look forward to seeing you on 14 March!

In Solidarity,

  • Diana Twiss, Chair, School of Access & Academic Preparation & Faculty, Community Development & Outreach

  • Michael Begg, CFA Senior Steward

  • Eduardo Azmitia, CFA President
