Bargaining Bulletin #18

Dear colleagues,

In our last two bargaining sessions, we have reached agreement on some articles centred on rights language, as well as on changing the academic year to start in September. However, most of our discussion has been about very fine-grained details of our benefits language where we have made incremental gains.

The other most important topic has been non-regular salary scale placement. On this, we are considering options to improve the step placement process, so they can be paid a salary that is closer to what they deserve.

Currently, we are fine-tuning the costing of different proposals and trying to achieve a balance between the few items still under discussion.

We will brief the area stewards in detail on the proposals this coming Tuesday.

In solidarity,

Bargaining Committee members Tim Acton, Doug Alards-Tomalin, Eduardo Azmitia, Michael Begg, and FPSE representative Monica Staff
