Collective & Common Agreements

The rights and duties of faculty as employees of Capilano University are mainly found in our Collective Agreement and the letters of agreement attached to it. Some of our rights are set out in a document called the Common Agreement.

  • The Collective Agreement is specific to Capilano University and the CFA. It is the agreement that the CFA negotiates on behalf of all faculty at Capilano. This is the first place you should look if you have questions about your rights and duties as a faculty member. You are also encouraged to talk with your area Steward, or the Senior Steward.

This is the most updated version of the Collective Agreement. (The document says it is in "Draft" as it is pending final proofing and sign-off by both parties.)

  • The Common Agreement is negotiated by the CFA's provincial umbrella union, FPSE, on behalf of several colleges. We rely on the Common Agreement for certain benefits, but mostly our Collective Agreement replaces or incorporates terms of the Common Agreement. (You probably do not need to refer to the Common Agreement unless the Collective Agreement directs you to it.)

  • This document will be of particular interest to non-regularized faculty members. It refers to specific articles in the Collective Agreement.

Constitution & Bylaws

The Constitution and Bylaws of the CFA outline the fundamental rules and principles by which the association is governed.

Through the Capilano University Faculty Association (CFA) your voice is welcome and important.
